MODEL 70 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 257 Roberts. S# 59395. Mfg. 1947, the "Transitional" production era for the Winchester Model 70 spanning 1947-1948 (S# range approx. 60,500-87,700). Tapered 24" bbl. Stippled ramp mounted Lyman bead front sight, & elevator rear sight. Type I receiver with cloverleaf stock tang, wave matting, D&T over chamber, Matching number on bolt sleeve has transitional safety on cocking knob. Checkered walnut stock w/ checkered steel buttplate & sling swivels. CONDITION: over 90% original blue with light wear on bottom metal, wear spot on buttplate, cycling wear on receiver & scattered light marks on barrel. Original wood finish shows scattered marks & mildew stains around buttplate. Very good rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-696/MD).
